Newsletter September, 2006

BEEN BUSY

Well, gang I am sorry that you didn’t get a newsletter last month. There were a couple of things that caused it. First, I didn’t receive anything to put in the newsletter except a couple of match results. No news equals no newsletter at the cost to mail it. Second, my wife had twelve hours in the operating room being cut on and then recovering at home. That kept me pretty busy. Again this month there was only two match results turned in. Freddy Pena called one in and Dr. Kyle emailed me another one. So this month, partly because of no news, the newsletter will not be mailed to the one who don’t have emails or the email address they put on their application card is bad! I am stuck in the office every day and just can’t justify taking vacation to take the newsletter to the printer, picking it up on another day and then sealing and putting the address labels on it and taking it to the post office. The only time you can take it for bulk mailing is Monday thru Friday from 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM. Normally my wife has been doing the running for all this, but she is not able to drive after the surgery. I don’t know how much longer it will be until she is able to drive. Until then, I guess we will have to work something out on getting the printed newsletter done. I hope we can get back to normal soon.

Lost and Found

Nothing for this month!

If you find anything on the property that is not yours, please turn it into one of the officers and it will be listed. Thanks for your help.

Meeting Dates

The dates for the meetings coming up are September 1 and October 6. Remember that the meeting is the first Friday of each month thru November. I encourage all members to come out to the meetings. If you have any friends that would like to join, please bring them so they can see what goes on. I hope to see each one of you there!

All Officers and members are encouraged to submit articles to be included in this newsletter. If is club or shooting related and not derogatory, it will be included in future newsletters.

Please submit to me by the 20th of the month at secretary@laredoshooters.com or by mail at LR&PC, PO Box 1771, Laredo, TX  78044.

Match Results

I have a complaint in the way match results are done at this club. It got started that a “Winner” was the top shooter and then the 1st. 2nd and 3rd places are named. The first place is the match winner. I was told that this was a way to give more places. If you want to do that, just give four, five or ten places at every match, just call them 1st, 2nd 3rd, 4th, 5th …… There was a lot of confusion at last years trophy give out at the November match in sorting the trophies out and then presenting them. Giving the winner and then 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place. Some who got a 1st place thought they had won first place where they were actually the 1st place looser! I hope we will reconsider how we rank the matches. When I put them in the newsletter, I put 1st, 2nd & 3rd or more. Let us know what you think of this. Thanks,

Bill, Secretary
