Range Improvements
At the Board of Directors meeting last night, several range improvements were discussed. Vice President Dallas has got some estimates on rebuilding the Silhouette Range shooting cover. He plans on having more to be voted on at the meeting on March 2. He has also got an estimate on fixing the road from the entrance to beyond the pavilion next to the club house. It may seem to a lot of members that nothing is being done to improve the club property. This new administration is planning a lot of improvements and cleaning up of the property. It was stated at the meeting that the match run by Tony Garza that before going down range, he told the shooters to pick up something when coming back and throw it in the trash. If everyone that comes to the property would do this, it would slowly improve the looks of the property. There are trash barrels at various locations and Treasurer has obtained more steel barrels for trash and the Board approved purchasing a used drum dolly that has been offered for sale to us by an oil company. This will make moving the drums a lot easier and safer than rolling them to where they are needed. If you would throw your trash in the barrels instead of on the ground, we might be able to get the ranges cleaned up. If the wind blows and empty cartridge box off the shooting bench, don’t leave it on the ground, pick it up and either take it home, if you want to keep it, or throw it in the trash barrels. We are planning on scheduling clean up days each month and would like to have your participation. Your yearly dues are
not enough to pay to have the range cleaned professionally! If you don’t want to try to help clean and keep the ranges clean, do you want to pay to have it done? I don’t think so, try to pick up your trash and some that has been left behind. If you see someone starting to leave without picking up disposing their trash, ask them to pick it up. How would you like someone to come to your front yard and enjoy it and leave with all their trash on your lawn. This is your range, don’t just complain about how it looks and do your part to make it better!
Lost and Found
Any lost and found items will be listed in the monthly newsletter. This month we have one found item:
1- AR-15 magazine, 30 round with some markings on it. If you lost it, come to the meeting to identify it and it will be returned.
If you find anything on the property that is not yours, please turn it into one of the officers and it will be listed. Thanks for your help.
Meeting Dates
The dates for the meetings coming up are March 3, April 2 and May 5. I encourage all members to come out to the meetings. If you have any friends that don’t belong, they can purchase a membership at the meetings. I hope to see each one of you there! There will be no food provided at the meetings, but there will be soft drinks available.

Night Shooting
There is NO night shooting allowed at the range! At the Board meeting two vehicles came to the range after dark and proceeded to two different ranges and prepared to shoot. President Tony had to go tell them it wasn’t allowed and they would have to leave. This is just as bad as the ones who used to come to the range and practice their drive by shooing where they would pull their vehicle up parallel to the firing line, jump out of both sides and open up down range with their assault rifles! If you observe anything like this, get the license numbers from the vehicles and call the Webb County Sheriffs Department! Their phone number is 523-4500. I would suggest you put this number in your cell phone to have available if needed.
.Club Expulsion
It is terrible to have to bring this possibility up, but it has happened. The former President of the LR&PC that was forced out of the club by a County Judge after a lawsuit was filed against him,
purchased a membership for this year. He was notified of an expulsion hearing to take place last month by the Board of Directors and if he wanted to appeal it, to be at the meeting. This notice was given according to the bylaws of the club by Certified Mail with return receipt to acknowledge his receipt within the required time. He did not show up for an appeal and he was sent another Certified Mail letter with return receipt. In the first letter, if he did not come to appeal, he was to return his membership card and key to the post office box. The second letter also stated that he was to turn in his card and key. He did not abide this process and our Vice President stopped by his house and rang his door bell. When he came to the door, he was upset to see the VP and when asked for the key and card and any other club property, he stated he didn’t have anything of the clubs and didn’t want to see any of the officers on his property again and if he did, he would get a restraining order against them! In the letters it was stated that if he was expelled from the club and was seen on the property, the Sheriff would be called to arrest him for tresspassing, relieve him of his card and key and he would be prosecuted for trespassing! If anyone sees this person on the property, you are to call the Sheriffs Department!
This photo is a couple of years old, but you will be able to recognize him. Call the Sheriff Department at 523-4500. It is as shame to have to do this, but be warned, if you break the club rules, eventually this could happen to you. We are trying to get the club straightened out after at least two years of mismanagement and misappropriation of club funds! This behavior will not be tolerated and will be prosecuted!
MATCH SCHEDULE FOR 2006
It was decided to add the Match Coordinators name and phone number to the match schedule so you can contact them before the shoot if you need to find out the time of the match, what equipment you will need or just basic information on the match, call the coordinator before the date of the match. |
